provides systemic protection against Pythium damping-off, early season
Phytophthora root rot and downy mildew in a wide range of crops.
DISEASE CONTROL:
Apron XL®, is a new phenylamide fungicide that is used to control seed and soil borne diseases caused by fungi in the Oomycetes class, such as Pythium spp, Phytophthora spp. and certain downy mildews.
Pythium and Phytophthora Diseases
Belong to the class Oomycetes
• Attacks many different crops, notably soybeans, colored beans,
pulse crops and alfalfa.
• Responsible for damping off, seed rot, seedling rot, and root rots.
• Found worldwide in all soil types.
• Most damage done to seed and seedling but may also attack
mature plants which results in a loss of vigor.
• Attacks plants below soil surface but may spread to fruit and
vegetables above the soil due to a “splashing affect” from rain.
• Disease severity increases when crop grown for more than two
consecutive years or grown in cool wet soils, as experienced
during early planting, planting in poorly drained soils
or no-till soils.
• Decreases germination and emergence of seeds and seedlings.
• Results in poor stands.
• Only effective control is use of a systemic seed treatment fungicide.
For control of other soil-borne diseases, such as Rhizoctonia spp, Apron XL® should be applied in combination with other registered fungicide seed treatments.
