Understanding The Benefits of Branch Rooted Alfalfas
HayGrazer Alfalfa
HayGrazer alfalfa offers improved yield and overall increased survivability. The branch root adapts HayGrazer to soil conditions with a high water table or areas with excessive moisture. HayGrazer’s superior branch root structure is located high in the soil zone, above the water table. A high water table often severely damages or kills tap roots of traditional varieties, exposing those plants to disease or winterkill. The distribution of roots closer to the soil surface of HayGrazer increases the plants ability to better uptake nutrients and to be an exceptional performer to hay producers in Western Canada under most soil conditions. Along with the benefits of the branched root system HayGrazer was developed with a broad deep set crown (sunken crown) which helps the variety to survive grazing and wheel traffic by having the growing point beneath the soil surface. The large size of the crown produces more stems per plant result in finer stems and higher quality hay.
