Hyland Seeds was founded in 1975 as a division of a major Canadian grain exporter and supplier of seed, fertilizer and crop inputs named Thompson’s Limited. Hyland Seeds develops corn hybrids and soybeans and edible bean varieties specifically suited for northern conditions, concentrating on the traits northern growers need for success. SASPA works on research and extension initiatives in the areas of alfalfa seed production and alfalfa leafcutting bee management, and is actively engaged in the promotion of alfalfa as a forage crop throughout North America. SASPA is also involved in the development of innovative agricultural policy initiatives through consultation with other producer organizations, and through communication with various levels of government and industry.
